Pittsburgh Penguins Announcer Has Diarrhea of the Mouth

Here's the setup: The Hobey Baker Award is a trophy given out every year to the top male NCAA hockey player because, as it turns out, the man said trophy is named after was a stellar athlete way back in the early 1900's. He also served his country as a Navy pilot during WWI, but it wasn't until he made it through the word's first war only to meet his untimely demise in a plane crash -- at the tender age of 26 I might add -- that his name was attached to the end-of-season hardware.

That's hilarious stuff right? Well apparently it was to Pittsburgh Penguins announcer Paul Steigerwald of Fox Sports Pittsburgh, who let fly with the verbal equivalent of the beer shits on Monday night.

The remark is bad enough, but what makes it all the more ridiculous is the cackling and guffawing he throws in there in an effort to sell the "joke" to everyone listening.

I imagine an on-air apology is on the horizon, and if one isn't then someone needs to teach Mr. Steigerwald a little respect. I'm all for off color jokes and remarks, but making light of the horrible way someone died -- no matter how long ago it might have been -- is just plain fucked up.
